While it is easy for us grown ups to get used to all the chatter on radio and television and not pay enough attention to anything that isn’t of utmost importance to our personal lives or goals, my 5 yr. old today reminded me of why a 5 yr. old is better than grown ups.

While driving him around town on errands, as I usually do, I was listening to the public radio broadcast on WHYY. While it was good conversation, it was more or less a blur to my grown up brain and while sobering, it wasn’t heartfelt. But to my 5 yr. old it was a lot more. I sensed that as soon as he started asking endless questions. All very innocent, all very touching. He asked me what memory meant when he heard “sonic memorial” on radio. He asked me why they won’t build two towers now. And when I ignorantly I said I don’t know, he said because they have built a fountain there. That’s when it struck me how ignorant I was. While he was listening to same radio and watching same news on TV as I was, he was actually the one paying attention!

What touched me the most is when he said when he grows up, he wants to start a company in L.A. (not sure why he picked that) and will build twin towers everywhere except in New York city because they have fountain there! It send a shockwave through me. How a kid, who has no idea of the magnitude of the events that unfolded on that unforgettable morning, wanted to do so much for a memory!

That’s when I woke up and decided create a picture to tell the story.

I am not an artist so I have used pictures I came across from image search on search engines and if I am violating any copyrights unknowingly, I hope the authors will understand that I have no intention of making this image available for sale. I just want to do this for my child and his endless curiosity. God bless him.

What I am sharing here are some outcomes of my numerous attempts with two formats; one for desktop wallpaper and one for print (8×10 format). Feel free to download for personal use. Please do not try to sell out of respect for the victims. I claim no copyright to these photographs. If I have used your photograph and you don’t want me to use it for this good cause, let me know and I will immediately remove it.

We are just a week away from World IPv6 day. On June 8, 2011, a host of technology companies with participate. By participating, they will enable their websites to be accesible using both IPv4 and IPv6.

What does that mean to you? Probably nothing if you are on newer Operating Systems that support IPv6 along with your home network/office network and/or ISP supports IPv6. If you can’t use IPv6, your computer should correctly continue using IPv4 to access the website that is enabled for both.

The only thing that can stop you is misconfigurations. You can go to http://blogs.technet.com/b/ipv6/archive/2011/05/20/ipv6-day.aspx and scroll down to “IPv6 Connectivity Analysis” to see if your computer is ready. You can also read more about World IPv6 Day and Windows there.

If the Connectivity Analysis on the page above is not successful for you, you can resolve it by following steps outlined in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2533454/.

And finally, if you don’t know much about IPv6 but would like to get started, you can go to Microsoft’s IPv6 page which has wealth of resources to get you started.

I just came to know that I am a “Charter Member” of MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010. It is interesting because I took exams when they were in Beta stage and knew I would be one of the first few, however, when I got certificate from MCP site right after getting certified, it did not who me as Charter Member. I did not really bother wondering why or email MCP team. However, today when I saw someone else posting about it, I was curious so I headed to MCP site and checked again. To my surprise, the Certificate download tool now listed me as Charter Member! Interesting but not surprising. It’s always good to know I got that special designation.

There are different views about what a Charter Member is. Some suggest it is first 5000 who get certified and the MCP site suggests differently. I am going to quote what I consider an authoritative resource: Microsoft Learning Site.

As per the site:

“Charter Members are the pioneering group of individuals who achieve a certification shortly after the certification becomes available. When a Charter Member certification is offered, it is available to candidates who achieve the new certification within six months after the certification exam is released. Charter Members are recognized by receiving the Charter version of the certificate.”

But hey, either way, I am a Charter Member. Hurray!
